  • How to determine if DDR4 memory will work with MB

I am looking at F4-3000C15Q-16GVR or F4-3000C15Q-16GRR memory. What is the difference between the two?

I would like to know if either of these will work in the Gigabyte GA-X99-SLI motherboard, or alternatively the MSI X99A SLI PLUS motherboard. I tried using the memory configurator, and it said that only 2400 and 2800 DDR4 memory could be used for the Gigabyte motherboard. But, it was for 128GB, not 16GB. For the MSI board, it said that 16GB 3000 memory could be used.

So, it looks like 16GB 3000 memory can be used for the MSI board. My question is - can I use either of these 16 GB memory kits for the Gigabyte motherboard? If not, then is there an alternative 16 GB 3000 memory kit that can be used?

Yes, either kit will work just fine. A good CPU is necessary, make sure you have the latest BIOS, enable XMP, and the system should run at full speed.

Performance is about the same, the main difference will be the heat spreader.
