  • Value Series (F3-1600C11-4GNS) overclocking help

Can you help me with overclocking this set of Value Series (8 GB)? Can Value series be OC at all? I succesfully OCed my CPU to 4,4GHz (FX-6300).

Some value kits can be OC'ed to DDR3-1866 or even further, but that depends on the ICs being used and their quality. For starters just try DDR3-1866 11-11-11-28 2T at 1.5V. Maybe raise Vdimm if you're having stability issues with that. If you actually do find stability, then you could try to lower the timings or raise the memory clock even further. It is a learning by doing experience, esp for unknown ICs and there probably will be POST problems and a BSOD every now and then, until you figure out what timings and voltages the memory needs for a certain clock.

Since some boards do a better job on recovering from bad settings than others, i recommend saving your settings to USB. That way you don't need to start over from the beginning, if you end up having to clear the CMOS. Old schoolers also tend to just write all relevant changes down on paper or keep track of them in spreadsheets on a second machine^^

Combinations to try (safer --> faster):

    DDR3-1866 11-11-11-28 / 10-11-10-28 / 9-11-10-28 / 9-10-9-28 / 8-10-9-28 ...
    DDR3-2133 11-13-13-31 / 11-12-12-31 / 11-11-11-31 / 10-12-12-31 / 10-11-11-31 ...
    DDR3-2400 12-13-14-31 / 11-13-13-31 / 11-12-12-31 / 10-12-12-31 / ...

If your modules are single sided you might already need to adjust secondary timings for DDR3-1866. For higher memory clocks this is usually needed as well, but that also depends on the MB used and how advanced its memory training is. From my experience ASUS tends to do a better job with that for their higher end models than most other manufacturers.
