  • G-Skill Trident X F3-2400C10D CL10 TO CL9

    I have 16 gigs of G-Skill Trident X F3-2400C10D-16GTX in my Asus Sabertooth Z77 board with a I5 3570k cpu.Stock timings are 10 12 12 31 1T.The tightest I can get them to run is 10 10 12 21 1t 1.65 v.I tried CL9 AT 1.70 dram volts but prime crashed in about 1 min.Does anyone know what I have to tweak to get them to run at CL9.Any ideas appreciated.

Its not likely that you will get CL9 with this kit at reasonable Vdimm levels. The only thing that would help reduce CAS latency is adding more Vdimm, but i don't think that is worth it for 24/7 use. If you had gotten yourself G.SKILL TridentX F3-2400C9Q-16GTXD instead, these would be 2400 9-11-11 at 1.65V out of the box with no tweaking.

CL9 is very difficult for 8GB sticks @ DDR3-2400. There were some chips/kits that were capable of it in the past, but the latest ones are geared for high speed. Don't worry, based on your CPU, the latency will not affect performance much. Tightening up the timings too much can restrict performance as well, so just know with the Trident X series RAM the rated values/settings are optimized for your system.
