  • Can you solve my RAM problem ?

I have a question and would like someone to answer it !

    My MOBO is socket 1156.
    GA-H55M-S2V rev1.4
    With a Intel H55 chipset.

    I'm wanting to buy Ripjaws DDR3 F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM
But the G skill website says under QLV for Gigabyte MOBO
that H77 is the oldest socket I could find.
    I couldn't see anything for H55 chipset.
    What does this mean ?

    What CPU do you have?

The memory should work fine for that motherboard, but make sure you have the latest BIOS.

    Thank you

But seriously, I'm not an overclocker.
So can someone please answer my question ?
What does it mean when your MOBO is listed under QLV & it is not bro ?

It can be difficult to test all motherboards. If a motherboard is listed, it means we tested the specific combination. If it is not listed, it may not have been tested yet, we may not have the board, or it is a slight variation of another board. There are many possible reasons, but generally most modules will be compatible with older hardware as we continuously tweak, test, and work with motherboard manufacturers to make everything perfectly compatible.

        Thank you

Can you direct me to an area where they talk about tweaking the ram in the bios as I'm very new to this.
And how can I tell if a certain ram is incompatible with my system ?
Thank you for all your help !

It should work out alright. I had an i3 530 with 4x4GB of ripjaws x for a while. Should be able to drop them in and the mobo will default to whatever jedec standards are for that board. I could only get higher clocks by playing with the FSB on mine. Popping out the CMOS battery to make sure everything is at default then flashing to the latest bios like the tech said is probably the easiest route. Board specs say it supports XMP profiles so I don't see why it wouldn't work with any ddr3 brand.

If the system is unstable with the correct settings, the memory may be incompatible.
