  • G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB DDR3 2400 Timings

I picked up some G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C10D-16GTX and the best tightest timing I can run is 10 12 12.When I tried 10 11 11 she would not boot. Also when I tried to oc to 2600 it booted to desktop but cpuz and max mem reported it was at 2400.I went into the bios and it was changed back to 2400.Any ideas for tighter 2400 setting on what I need to do. Any ideas appreciated.

Try 10-11-12, lower tRAS in small steps and then maybe fine tune the secondaries/tertiaries for performance.

I have 2400 stable now at 10 10 12 28 1T.For the hell of it I tried underclocking at 2200 with 9 11 11 30 and it would not post. Anyone have timings for 2200 and under I could try.

Try 9-10-11-27 @ 2133 first and determine how much voltage that needs. If it is well below 1.60V, then these timings should also be doable at 2200.

I tried 9 10 11 27 @ 2133 with voltages from 1.65 down to 1.59 and she will not boot. I had vscca set on auto when trying which showed stock voltage in the bios.

What CPU and board do you have? I have the same Trident 2X8GB, i7-3770K, ASUS Sabertooth Z77.
I fiddled around with many settings and can't run with anything lower than 10-12-12-30T @ 1.65V.
            I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that.

I have a Asus Sabertooth Z77 board and a I5 3570k cpu. I also tried 2200 @ 9 9 11 27 1T and it worked fine also. Plus,I had to set the VCCSA volts to 1.0000 volts for it to work.

Maybe your board doesn't set appropriate secondaries by itself? So for starters, manually put in the Secondaries from the XMP profile. Then lower the divider and adjust the primaries.

For a 2x8GB Samsung based kit at DDR3-2133/2200 start with

                10-11-11-27
                10-10-11-27
                9-10-11-27
                9-9-11-27
                9-9-10-27

Keep Vdimm at 1.65V and lower it, when you found your final setting. Also it is possible, that you need to adjust VCCIO and VCCSA, but don't go overboard. If you really care about performance, tighten the secondaries afterwards. However that will take quite some time by trial & error.

Take advantage of UEFI profiles to backup your settings and temporary results if possible, otherwise just take notes.
