  • F3-14900CL9-4GBXL Biostar TA970 Ver5

Cant seem to find the correct Bios settings to allow RAM to clock past 1600.
CPU Liquid cooling so overclocking is not an issue.
    Here is setup:
    MB Biostar TA970 Ver5
    Bios AM 4.6.4 1/14/2013
    CPU AMD FX-8120 8 Core
    Mem Gskill F3-14900CL9-4GBXL x 2 8gb total

Searched the forum but cant seem to find a setup that works with my bios and processor.

    Skill - Moderate to advanced

    Any help with this setup?

It is most likely not possible to run memory @ anything above 1600 with that processor amd was way behind intel when it came back they finally have it where fm2 chips can run 2133 and most fx X3XX processors will take 1866, but nearly no 1 series ones will. You can try running them @1.55v and raising cpu/nb .1v and give it a whirl but the problem is most likely with your memory controller, not the memory

Tried the suggestion from Sapahos and got the boot black screen again.
Biostar says they support 1866 but the mem still stays at 1600.
Biostar said to contact G. Skill....

      Any other suggestions?

I would just set the timings to 8-9-9-24 amd leave them @ 1600 the limit is your processkr not your board... the memory controller is om the cpu

            Ok this is the fix.
Ensure your DIMMs are in the red slots. (Why I cant say)
Set the memory clock mode from Auto to the 1866 setting. (This is in the Performance Tab)
            ReBoot and your at 1866.
I only have two DIMMs so if this works for 4 DIMMs I cant say.
Why it works I have no idea, but it does.

Grenz is right 4 dims does not work on this board. I had to go to only two slots to get mine to work. If you want more dims then youll have to upgrade you mb. BTW its not your amd chip holding you back.

I dont know about four as all I have is two.
I do know I needed to place them in the red slots to get it to work though.
