  • F3-10600CL9D-4GBPK + ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 + AMD Athlon II x2 250 Regor 3.0GHz

I searched for my motherboard and memory combo but did not find it. I am having random crashes. Here are my current settings:

    Mem: 1.605 volts
    HT: 1.200 volts
    NB: 1.250 volts
    NB 1.8volt: 1.800 volts
    SB: 1.100 volts

The only thing I have adjusted is the memory voltage, from 1.5 volts to 1.6 volts. The crashes are less frequent since I raised the memory voltage, but are still happening. I wanted to get the opinion of this forum before I changed anything else.

    Thanks

Try taking NB up from 1.25 to +.05 or +.1, have you run memtest on the sticks individually to see if they are okay? I would guess either bumping the voltage will fix the issue, or the memory its self may need an RMA

Yes, I did run memtest on both modules at the same time. Only ran one pass though, no errors.

I will try bumping the NB to 1.30.

      Thanks!

Hopefully that'll be enough to fix things for you, kind of odd. Just as a double check you do have the memory in the same color slots, not in slots beside eachother? (won't really affect stability, but will affect its speed once you do get it stable)

You can also try DRAM Voltage 1.65V to see if that helps. Other voltages should be fine on AUTO.

          Thank you

Yes, both sticks are in black slots.

I'll try that next, if I have another crash.

if your cpu cooler isn't in the way you can always try the blue slots, but honestly that shouldn't affect anything.

It's not in the way. I *could* use the blue slots, I didn't just because I thought it might be better to have the sticks further away from the cpu. And, it was easier to install into the black slots.

When I first installed these modules, I did put them in the blue slots. Then, after the crashes began I moved them to the black slots, and have just kept them there.

Leave it alone if you get it stable was just going for one more thing that might be worth a try if things don't get straightened out with the voltage tweaks. Working okay with the NB voltage bump so far?

Yep, with the NB at 1.3, so far so good.

Well, today (10/04/13) when I pressed the power on button, I got one long beep and four short beeps. This is the second time this has happened with this memory. According to the motherboard manual, this means a hardware failure. On the first occurrence today, I shut the power off by pressing and holding the power button. On the second attempt, had the same number or beeps. Powered down again. This time I also shut off the power supply by the rocker switch on the back. Waited 30 seconds, turned on the power supply, waited another 10 seconds, then tried another power up of the system. Same beeps again. Powered down again, including the power supply. This time I removed the two G.Skill sticks and installed the old single, 2GB, OCZ stick. Pressed the power button, no beeps, system is running fine.

I'm beginning to think that this system just doesn't like these G.Skill memory sticks.

As a last effort, if you haven't already, try updating the bios and see if that fixes things. After that my next step would be:

Hadn't thought of that. I'll give it a try.
