  • TridentX F3-2400C10D-16GTX 16GB (2x8GB) mixing two dual channel kits

    Hi guys,

I've just added a second set of TridentX 2400 C10 2x8GB kits on top my existing exactly same model kits but different manufacturing dates, ofcourse. Should this be a problem or not?? The old one doesnt have the 'compatible with Haswell' sticker, of course, but the new kits does have the sticker on the packaging. Does this mean those two kits have different versions of XMP or that's not the case!! Should I just RMA the old kit so that I have exact same manufacturing dates meaning exact same build versions or just leave it as it is???

    Thx

Any time you mix sets it can be problematic, XMP is programmed by the packaged set so for instance a two stick set may call for a tRFC or 2008 or whatever and a 4 stick set may have a tRFC of 314...you can try the two sets together, I'd enable XMP, to get based timings in, and chack advanced, as mentioned the tRFC will prob need to be about 314...then give it a shot, if problems can try adding about + 0.05 to the DRAM voltage and/or maybe about + 0.07 to the VCCSA

So when 4 sticks are on, the tRFC should be 314?? I'll give that a shot.

      Thx for your prompt reply..!!

Currently I got it running at default settings. The refresh cycle is set at 174 or something by default (it was named slightly different than just tRFC). My CPU was having problem, so after replacing that I have no such issues yet!!! Hopefully there won't be any issues!!! I will do 2 passes of memtest4.2 at a later stage and post the update.

          Thx for the help....!!!
