  • Will the new firmware fix this?

I was using a pair of g.skill falcon 128's in raid 1 as my data drive for a static, read only sql database. (trying to get better read performance than mechanical drives)
(windows server 2008, sql 2008 server)

While running a backup, both drives quit at the same time Sat am.

Neither drive is now recognized on a separate PC running XP using device manager.

Newegg comments list a number of doa's, or quit after 1 week, but this is weird - both quit at once?

I used raid1 so if one or the other quit, the database would still be up, and I could just replace the drive.

I've downloaded the 1571 update, but I need to find a pc with a spare sata port and XP so I can try the update. Does anyone expect this might fix the drives?

Can you see either drive in the BIOS?

OK, I tried to flash both drives. Neither show in device manager before using start.exe. However, one of the drives is recognized after start.exe, then does show in device mgr. Unfortunately, this is the results of the flashing:

Size of SDRAM is 64 MB
          SATA/SDRAM test 100%
          initialize flash
